Mail Server Maintenance

Here is a little background on the issue:

Last night we converted the storage format for email from mbox to maildir. This change minimizes the chance of email becoming corrupted as individual messages are saved in separate files, one file per message. Now multiple processes will be able to use maildirs at the same time. The old format stored all messages for a particular account in one file. This is actually how outlook stores email versus Thunderbird. Thunderbird stores them in separate files, which is the preferred method.

Resolution:

Please re-subscribe to your folder(s) in your e-mail client. Please note, this must be done in EACH email account to be effective for that specific account.

Microsoft Outlook:

1. Right-click on the account name on the far left side of the screen.
2. Left-click "IMAP Folders..."
3. A "Show/Hide IMAP Folders" window opens.
4. The window has to tabs, labeled "All" and "Visible". Make sure "All" is selected.
5. Select all the folders shown (shift-left-click)
6. Click "Show" button.

Thunderbird:

1. Right-click on your account name (Generally the parent of the tree structure).
2. The first option is "Subscribe." Check off all the folders you want to subscribe to.

Horde:

1. In the main account click on the "Folders" icon at the top of the screen.
2. Choose the "Rebuild Folder Tree" option from the dropdown box.
3. Next, choose the "Check Folders for New Mail" option from the same box.

Squirrelmail:

1. Go to Options / Folder preferences
2. Select INBOX.Sent, INBOX.Drafts and INBOX.Trash, and any other folders you need.
3. Click Subscribe.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but the changed was needed after a security report was released last night about the mail storage issue.
